A report from ShowBizSpy.Com dictates that Brad Pitt is the leading candidate as of the moment to play the character of John Marston in Red Dead Redemption upcoming movie.

That is awesome news because this is a title of epic proportions and needs an actor of epic proportions. No other person could have pulled off Achilles like he did. This movie needs the kind of confident and arrogant at times character that he can do so good with a tinge of humour involved.

point of interest 1 Peter Jackson to Announce Hobbit Plans "Sometime Soon"

Peter Jackson was quoted today as saying he'll know whether or not he'll be directing The Hobbit "sometime soon" by The Dominion Post.

Jackson reiterated that legal negotiations are still plaguing the film's impending production, but offered some assurance with his statement that Warner Bros. (who control half the rights) is, "making progress untangling the MGM situation...". MGM is currently bankrupt and it is undecided what course the studio will be taking with its holdings.

Jackson went on to say that, after the decision is reached, he will be able to make a five-year plan "that will keep many people very busy". Among the potential projects the director is eying is a retelling of the Battle of Gallipoli from the point of view of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC).

Another of the article's notes of interest is the suggestion that casting is still underway for The Hobbit despite the delay. Australian actor Jeremy Sims reportedly auditioned for the part of a troll, presumably either Tom, Bert or William Huggins from the original novel. One of the three characters even makes a (stoney) in-joke cameo in both the book and film version of The Fellowship of the Ring.

Telling the truth is the easy part. But sometimes the consequences for sharing it are far much worse that you could ever imagine.

Valerie Plame is revealed to be a CIA agent by White House officials allegedly out to discredit her husband after he wrote a 2003 New York Times op-ed piece saying that the Bush administration had manipulated intelligence about weapons of mass destruction to justify the invasion of Iraq.

Thus the whole drama begins where both husband and wife have to go through a real life trauma where everybody is out to get them.

Several details from next summer's X-Men: First Class have been revealed thanks to an informal phone interview AICN conducted with the film's producer (and director of the first two X-Men films) Bryan Singer.

First Class is said to take place in the 1960's and will heavily play with the style of the day. Audiences will see John F. Kennedy as President and the parallel storyline of Martin Luther King and Malcolm X will play in the background. Overall, the look is said to emulate the original X-Men costumes far more than previous films have, though the film's chronology pre-dates the First Class story in the comics, meaning that many of the expected characters (Cyclops and Marvel Girl are listed by name) will not appear.

The villain of the film is, as rumored, Sebastian Shaw (played by Kevin Bacon). January Jones's Emma Frost will appear as the Hellfire Club's White Queen as well.

The central focus of the film is the friendship between Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Eric Lensherr (Michael Fassbender) and how it falls apart. Xavier will not be depicted as bald or in a wheelchair for the majority of the film, though we will learn what cripples him.

AICN's article makes frequent James Bond comparisons, noting that the film will heavily play up the '60s style, but with retro-future technology in a setting that spans the globe. Russia (a.k.a. the U.S.S.R.) specifically is mentioned.

X-Men: First Class is slated to hit theaters on June 3, 2011.

Let Me InFantastic Fest has announced the opening night film will be the U.S. premiere of Let Me In, directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) and starring Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass), Kodi Smit-McPhee(The Road), Elias Koteas (Shutter Island) and Richard Jenkins (The Visitor). The red carpet event will take place on Thursday, September 23 at The Paramount Theatre with director Matt Reeves and cast members in attendance.

Let Me In is a terrifying tale about an alienated 12-year old (Smit-McPhee) who is viciously bullied by his classmates and neglected by his divorcing parents. Achingly lonely, Owen spends his days plotting revenge on his middle school tormentors and his evenings spying on the other inhabitants of his apartment complex. His only friend is his new neighbor Abby (Moretz), an eerily self-possessed young girl who lives next door with her silent father (Jenkins).

"We are truly honored that Fantastic Fest has chosen to open their festival with the U.S. premiere of 'Let Me In.' It is incredibly exciting to be able to present the film to an audience who I know are just as passionate about John Ajvide Linqvist's story as I am," said director Matt Reeves.

"Fantastic Fest has been following the development of this movie with rabid interest and we couldn't be more excited to share what Matt Reeves has up his sleeve in adapting this incredible story. We anticipate that this will solidify his place as a visionary genre artist," said Fantastic Fest co-founder Tim League. "And more than anything Fantastic Fest is ecstatic to see vampires doing what they do best – horrifying us with their bloodlust. Fantastic Fest is also cooking up a gorgeous Mondo poster for 'Let Me In' from artist Olly Moss."
