While Edward Cullen and Bella discuss the possibilities of her becoming a vampire, Victoria who originally was a member of James' coven is creating an army of newborns to destroy her. Edward is still reluctant on turning her before they're married so that she can have some of their most intimate experiences together as a human being before she's turned forever.

Bella goes to meet Jacob at La Push where he confesses of him being in love with her and tries to kiss her. Bella punches him and sprains her hand in retaliation. Edward coming to know about what happens threatens to break Jacob's jaw.

There are more serious matters to be handled later. The Newborn army that attacks Forks and led by Riley Biers. Edward takes Bella up in the mountains to hide her from the bloodthirsty newborns. Victoria eventually finds Bella's hiding place. After a great battle Edward kills Victoria.

Bella decides to marry Edward and become a vampire later and tells Jacob about her decision. He's pretty heartbroken over her decision but accepts it nevertheless and reluctantly agrees to not come in between her and Edward.

Bella and Edward go to their meadow, where she tells him she has decided to do things his way: get married, make love, then be transformed into a vampire. She also explains that she never has been normal and never will be; she's felt out of place her entire life, but when she is in Edward´s world she feels stronger, though she's afraid of being killed. They then decide they need to tell Charlie about their engagement. The film ends with Bella asking for her engagement ring. As Edward puts the ring on, they abruptly hug as we fade away.
